Switched instances to octodon. Let's see what I think of this one.
@visitorlizard It's a warm fuzzy place. I think you'll dig it. Welcome.
@sonicbooming Thanks. The other instance was ok but there just didn't seem to be a lot for me there.
@starbreaker @sonicbooming I was coming from mstdn.io. it was the first I signed up on since mastodon.social was full up. I didn't know about the little instance wizard that helped suggest instances. That's how I found here. I'm just curious about Mastodon and wanting to find something as a Facebook replacement. G+ didn't make it, Vero isn't getting anywhere and twitter is too much like a cesspool.
@visitorlizard @sonicbooming If you really want a Facebook replacement, you should look for a good diaspora* instance.
Mastodon is more like a federated Twitter where most of the admins have a zero tolerance policy for Nazis and other filth.
Believe it or not, Mastodon reminds me of Google+ during the 2011 beta (I was there) and early 2012, before Google ruined it by catering to ordinary people who cared about photos and video rather than text.
@starbreaker I think I'm good with Mastdon. I really want the chronological feed. Now I just need to get my friends on here.
@visitorlizard Getting your friends to join might be a tough sell, but making new friends here is easy and fun. :)
@starbreaker @visitorlizard Yah, that's been my experience as well.

Here are my suggestions.
• Try to avoid following media/news type sites.
• Follow humans and weird bots instead.
• Set this as a default social media book mark and remove twitter/facebook/others
• Have fun and post about the things you love, that bring you joy and share them.
• It's about connecting with humans and not with things that cause stress or micro-aggressions.
