Headed to Salt Lake City for the first time! Send me any of your fave spots there (and tips for a winter girl dealing with the heat).
@vickysteeves I'd say find a grocery store with a walk-in beer cooler, but something tells me Salt Lake City's alcohol laws are a bit stricter than Wisconsin's.
@keiyakins yeah, I've heard it's wicked strict too.....
@vickysteeves Wear cotton ;). I wear a headband to protect my glasses too.
@vickysteeves
Heat dealing tips:
~take off wool hat.
~take off gloves.
~take off boots.
~no hard exercise.
~loads of water.
Have fun 😜
Ho! take off scarf too 😂
@vickysteeves If you have time, can rent a car/drive, & want to see non-city sights, I highly recommend heading out to Spiral Jetty: https://diaart.org/visit/visit/robert-smithson-spiral-jetty My partner & I drove there from Boise for her birthday last summer & we can't wait to go back. The drive takes you past Golden Spike Nat'l Monument, too: https://www.nps.gov/gosp/index.htm Driving up to Park City would get you out of the heat & that town has great eats, drinks, hikes, & views.
@vickysteeves As far as stuff in SLC, there's a Thai restaurant called Sawadee that's very tasty and has pleasant outside seating, and it's close to a comfy coffee shop called Café on 1st. All beer on tap is "small beer," but you can get good full-strength local beers at liquor stores. Epic Brewing's "Son of a Baptist" is a very good coffee stout—one of my faves. Oh, and if it's your first time in a desert, bring a sweater/hoody for when the heat drops after sunset.
@foureyedsoul amazing, I will definitely check out all of these things! My taxi driver also told me about some amazing ghost tours in the downtown I want to check out!
@vickysteeves Fun! I haven’t explored the city itself much and never heard of those—hope they’re the right amount of spooky coolness.
@vickysteeves i dont know if it is still there but there was some kind of texmex place across a bridge near the hyatt across the street from teh basketball arena. it was really good an they its so much food for a good price. also there was a few good dive bars in the opposite direction
