Well, that's yet another death threat chalked up for me this week. I say this casually because humor helps me cope, but I'm actually pretty freaked out.

I sent a copy to the dude's employer and posted it to some relevant college sites.

I'm really disappointed in the mutual friend who tried to minimize the behavior, "100% he was wrong to do that, but also can you take it down he's freaking out and also he's just dumb he didn't mean it."

Actions have consequences.

@thindol His frigging friend needs to go teach his circle of friends why this is completely not ok, rather than wasting your time trying to get you to back off

Also: somehow, the vector of (possible) opportunity always happens *after* the horrible thing happened and someone is being held to task. Hmn, wonder why.

Follow up thread - bigoted conservative dude who whined about how he hated black people and liberals before giving me a death threat (on company time), is getting fired.

He'd "like to apologize" after threatening me with "his lawyer" for reporting his death threat.

Fuck no. Nope no nope nopeity nope fuck off.

a) I'm so, so sorry that happened to you...please be extra kind to yourself this weekend...
b) HELLA GOOD JOB making that shit all kinds of public!!!
c) the "mutual friend" isn't much of a friend to either of you, but especially to try and talk you out of a completely appropriate reaction to a completely inappropriate action - maybe cut them loose if you're able?

@MissSnarkerson I had a very, very long conversation with him about how grossly inappropriate it was to ask me to take it down a notch, and also how ridiculously shitty and offensive it was to try and determine if I was "just" trying to get him in trouble or if I was actually upset by it. He's a reformed libertarian, who still has some problems clearly, so we'll see if it sticks.
