Found out an interesting correlation with my mental/physical disconnect: the gaps that I get really uncomfortable with tend to be around eight feet across.
I used to measure things in parkour training a lot; then I stopped; then I started again, with refined intention. Measurement, though often counterproductive when used to infer causation ("It's eight feet across; I can't make that") can still be very useful to set up simulations: what degree does the distance affect you? Well, eliminate every other factor and find out.
Seems obvious, but I've found it is much harder to implement that program than talk about it, because it can be *really* boring and it's hard to keep focus in something that seems boring. But that's training in general: most of your time is spent working on becoming incapable of getting things wrong.
