@Divan thank you! And if it works for you, then I don't think it's bad advice at all.
@tats do you feel bad about feeling bad? then take some time to explore how you're feeling bad, and know that it's okay to feel bad, you're not bad for feeling bad, feeling bad doesn't make you a bad person.
if you've done that already? Go ahead and be nice to yourself and play with that dog and read that book.
actually, think about what “being nice to yourself” means to you right now, and do that, and do it knowing YOU DESERVE THIS 110% FRIEND.
@tariqk wise words! I don't feel bad about feeling bad, but I would rather feel not-bad as soon as possible, if that makes sense.
Unsure if that counts as Suppressing Feelings, in which case being kind to myself in the long run involves savoring the sad, or if hi, I'm sad, cool, let's do stuff now is an optional option.
I've settled for a compromise - tidying the house then cuddling with the dog in bed. Feeling Feelings but living la vida... Adult?
Brains are so complicated.
@tats that's a wonderful compromise and sounds absolutely blissful. i like how you did self-care in both the pleasurable and necessary ways!
@tariqk thanks! I may not have the children but that doesn't mean my laundry doesn't need doing.
...
Sigh. Laundry. Always the laundry.
@tats oh, i feel your pain. the only thing that makes it a little more bearable is that my washing machine has a timer option so i don't have to wait for it, a+++ feature can't live without

@wishx compromise! Lying in bed, WITH the dog (Having a chihuahua has its perks.) I assume this will get the job done.
You only ever think of the questions to ask your therapist after therapy...

@tats Personally I just embrace the sadness, really feel it till you get sick of it. Not sure if that is good advice though.
