@moz The combat is OK. It's basically a third-person cover shooter with sci-fi superpowers and smarter squadmates than previous installments.

What I particularly like is that if you research remnant tech you can make guns that overheat instead of running out of ammo.

I missed that aspect of the original Mass Effect in ME2 and ME3, and never liked the notion of "swapping out heat sinks" as an excuse to bring back ammo mechanics.

@starbreaker I played around a ton with the weapon mods and got some VERY FUN combinations, then again I'm the kind of person who's easily amused by power combos and big explosions that make the frame rate drop to 15FPS

pro tip: get the sticky explosive mod. attach it to a remnant weapon or combine with the ammo regen mod. make sure it's a very high rpm weapon. unlimited explosions, 10fps frame rate, melts enemies

@moz Thanks, but I already have a gun that melts enemies: the Shadow IV rem-tech sniper rifle. It's got a continuous beam. Works great when shooting from the hip or aiming, and rips through shields like tissue paper. Good against armor too in between fire combos (inferno > overload).

I like sniping enemies from a distance without them being able to hit back, 'cause I'm an asshole with no sense of fair play. :)

@starbreaker oh yeah the beam rifle is amazing. I really like the CQB combat style so I used a ton of SMGs and shotguns with the big splodey mods. the N7 rapid-fire shotgun is truly my favorite weapon in that game, add stickies to it and it's basically an HE cannon of death

@moz BTW, please tell me you renamed your weapon to "Torgue Exploderator 9000" or something, because your suggested gun build sounds like something out of #Borderlands.

@starbreaker I had some pretty creative weapon names but they were all "in-universe" which is lame but whatever, I like my canon-ishness

I may just play through again and call them something significantly more absurd and see what I can do with an engineer/tech-heavy build, since I usually played biotic-heavy builds

@moz I had a gun called "Peebee's Strap-on" at one point. I must have been drunk when I built that one. :)
