@starbreaker From my martial arts geek cousin: "I’m sure they are one of the same." But then he says, "The habit of exhale of the lungs (with or without a sound) does seem to create a more powerful strike" -- but exhaling without a sound is different from closed vocal folds stabilizing lung pressure & thus providing a point of leverage for shoulder & back muscles.
But then, "When I train on the heavy bag, the last set I go bananas/ape on the bag & yes the sounds become more violent & louder."
