I have no idea as to the reasons why,

@Eidon Nothing wrong with that. Star Wars is to science fantasy what Coors is to beer: watered down for consumption by the general public. TBH, Star Trek and Doctor Who are little better.
@starbreaker Yes it's kind of for popular consumption... In SF I liked Gerry Anderson's series much more, especially UFO...
