Wow... Just realized that Mastadon instances have the potential to become the ultimate echo chambers. I think that scares me to my core.

@uve Because in a non-federated world (where federations can be chosen) there is no chance for a horrible toot going viral in a way that brings to light someone's idiocy. In fact, the idiocy can have a darwinian like idiocy evolution where only the most idiotic survive.

if anything bc of federations more people will see content and more ideas can be exchanged.
