What are your favorite over-the-ear headphones? I've had a pair of Audio-Technicas for years that just cracked a bit.
Thinking of replacing them with seems to be the current version of them: Audio-Technica ATH-M40x https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HVLUR54/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 or the M50x
I don't like the Sony MDR-7506s-- they've always felt a bit too fragile to me. What do you like?
@schlink I'm extremely happy with my Beyerdynamics, both the DT770 (closed back) and DT880 ones (open back). I also have the MMX 2 but that's a gaming headset and comfort could be better.
@schlink I have a pair of these https://www.amazon.com/Bose-QuietComfort-Wireless-Headphones-Cancelling/dp/B0756CYWWD/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1524593092&sr=1-4&keywords=bose%C2%AE+quietcomfort%C2%AE+2 -- and while a bit expensive they are still my favorite all day headphones. They fit just right, dont pinch, have excellent audio range and cancel out those pesky airline noises (like noisy neighbors).
@schlink I really like these:

Not cheap, but the sound is great, they’re comfortable and you can activate noise canceling (different levels) when you need it.
@schlink I've got a pair of these https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB650BT-Extra-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B01BY7ZUJS
I've only once played with the silly EXTRA BASS stuff built in.
Sound quality is decent for the $; the main reason I like them is: they feel sturdy and the cushion doesn't smush my ears and glasses into the side of my head (which is my chief problem with most other headphones in this $-range).
Unfortunately, not much in that range has similar cushioning and also decent audio quality. (I don't use them wirelessly, so no idea there)
@schlink woops wrong link, those are the on-ear versions. I meant these: https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB950BT-Extra-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B00MCHE38O
headphone update: some more plastic on my poor 7-year-old M50s audibly cracked today, so I panic-ordered a replacement pair of M40s. BUT some of y'all have me really lusting for a pair of Sennheiser HD25-1 II's and I might just impulse-buy them too?
ugh, the M40xs feel much too tight on the very top of my head, no matter how I adjust them. 😕 😥
Pretty sure the shape of the band different than my old M50s, to my surprise and disappointment.
Meanwhile I found a pair of beyerdynamic DT 770s that feel pretty good, but don't sound great (fine for work headphones)
@schlink I have the ATH-R70x and if your situation allows for open back headphones, they are absolutely amazing. I probably spend more of my day with them on than off.
@schlink i enjoyed my AKG K52s until they ceased functioning in one ear after a few years
comfiest cans i've ever worn
