I really have little sympathy for Macron, but I have a little bit of hope that his promise to "rally" all the French is not his "poudre de perlimpimpin" and that he will be listening the strong-left leaning French people and politicians, and that he'll be keen to social justice progress. A very, very little hope that may just dissapear in the days following his inaugurations depending to whatever the fuck he decides to do with the country.
@Siphonay Does the president actually have that much power in day-to-day politics in France? Around here, it's mostly a representative position plus some important, but rarely used powers - chief commander over the military, could veto laws, force new elections or choose not to accept a government. All of them are reserved for extraordinary situations.
