pledged for a digital download of a movie on indiegogo, just realized i never got the download link. pinged the creator via ig, and they responded immediately, which was awesome. but they sent a link to a streaming service with no ability to download. trying to figure out a non-asshole way to say, no, i want the download i pledged for.

this stuff drives me crazy...i don't want to be a pushover, but even as minor a confrontation as this makes me super uncomfortable.

@rascalking I mean, direct but in polite terms should be okay? Plus maybe hedge on the possibility that you didn't find the download option on the streaming site. "Thanks, but I'd really like to be able to download the full movie rather than just streaming it, since that's what I was supposed to get at this pledge level. How can I get access to that?" Something like that?

@chalcedony yeah, that's kind of the approach i took. rationally, i know that's a reasonable approach. but convincing myself i'm not being a dick or unreasonable, and getting over the oogy "must avoid anything that might potentially be a confrontation" feels is always a thing.

thanks for the support!

@rascalking One step at a time, and all that. ^..^

yay, he seems not to have decided i was an asshole! :)

he explained that most folks were happy with a streaming window, and that since they didn't have any way to protect downloaded copies, they were offering that first instead of just downloads.

@rascalking Yay! (Though don't let that deter you too much from asking when/how you can have what you were promised!)
