my local Mikrotik distributor had the Routerboard I wanted (RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT or hAP ac WiFi Ethernet Router ) back in stock so I ordered that + some spare power adapters

looking forward to having the CRS back as an actual switch in my room

*waits for shipping notification*

#networking

also it has a faster clocked processor than the CRS I'm currently using, 720Mhz vs. 600Mhz, which is just a bonus

my order shipped, since its shipping from Ottawa, I'll probably have it tomorrow \o/

haha I forgot I set up a UPS MY Choice account so got a notification there too

CAD$17.67 for UPS Standard shipping from Ottawa to Toronto

that is the cheapest option

which is why whenever I order from there I make sure its a significant order value; which isn't hard, its router hardware which goes into $100+CAD prices easily

package out for delivery

*waits for phone to ring*

"Customer was not available when UPS attempted delivery. Will deliver to a nearby UPS Access Point™ for customer pick up. "

*sigh* I was here the whole time, I'm guessing the buzzer code was missing from the package label

its fine, I'll pick up the package from the UPS Access Point location a few minutes walk away after work

"UPS My Choice - Package Ready for Pickup"

lol that was fast

well what, I'm getting closer to my line speed...and wait what, why is my connection symmetric now, I'm supposed to be getting 100Mbps on the upload

I'm not complaining but o_O

Good to have the CRS back in my room, its a managed switch so I can monitor the ports using LibreNMS

Though now that Linksys L2 switch is only being used to provide PoE to my UniFi AP, feels like a bit of a waste.

@staticsafe Order a standalone PoE injector and send me the switch? ;)

@nivex I have a standalone PoE injector, one came with the UniFi AP

idk if I want to go back to using the injector though

@staticsafe oh, then clearly you need more PoE devices. How about a nice VoIP phone? Security camera?

@nivex hmm a nice VoIP phone would be useful hmm, idk what to get in that market though

I have no use for a security camera though

@staticsafe Yealink is pretty nice on the low end. I have a T21P. IPv6 and Opus for not a lot of $.

@staticsafe Be advised that the lower end phones have neither DHCPv6 nor RDNSS, so you have to key in v6 resolver info by hand. The higher end phones have DHCPv6.

@nivex I stopped distributing IPv6 resolves in my LAN anyways due to the variances between the different OSes so that's not an issue for me *shrug*
