#amd is rumored to be working on #nearmemory, or #HBM for CPU usage. This is what I've been waiting on for a while...just look at the performance of the new #intel NUC with #vega graphics to see what a higher-end #apu could look like! i'm not sure how addressable GPU HBM would be over PCI-E, but I've thought for a while it'd be interesting for PC to have access to that memory when the GPU isn't using it...especially on a low memory machine.

@lord that was a fun read! while setting the unused video memory as swap would be interesting...I was really thinking 8GB HBM (I think there is supposed to be a cheaper / slower HBM soon?) on-die with an APU acting as both system and GPU memory but allowing a really compact setup that would still bring reasonable performance.
i'd love to say this could be on a single chip, but HBM has only been added via EMIB or interposer at this point. plus I don't actually know what I'm talking about.
