A medieval historical fantasy where the land that we know as France was settled by descendants of literal angels. Everyone is beautiful, courtesan is a respected profession, any consensual sex is sacred.

The earlier trilogies are not needed for enjoyment. The books are long.

@naga I want to get back into her books at some point. I have Kushiel's Dart and read about halfway through it but then life got in the way and I never finished.

@zephasaurus_hex She's doing a lot of intriguing things as her career and writing have matured. And is now writing largely stand-alones, so less daunting than trilogies of trilogies.

Though I loved the Sundering duology from early on, it didn't get much notice. An homage to Lord of the Rings told primarily from the POV of the Dark Lord's top general.

@naga @zephasaurus_hex I absolutely loved the Sundering duology; it did such interesting things with a LOTR type world.
