It's time for my December game, the George Michael Challenge! Whoever manages to avoid the song Last Christmas until December 25, wins!
The rules are:
(1) If you hear the song, even a few seconds of it, you must declare it publicly, and you're out.
(2) Whamrolling other players is not allowed.
@matt Really? It's rather popular over here. Of course, players who are unfamiliar with the song are allowed to listen to it before they accept the challenge!
For the records, I totally stole the idea from Tom Scott's Pogues Game. But I had never heard of their song, while I have been hating “Last Christmas” for years, so to each their own
@miramarco I lost the Last Christmas game on Wednesday, The woman giving me a ride home from knitting had Christmas radio on. I had to explain to her who Wham was. (She did know Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, which I think is a much better song.)
@miramarco what if I accidentally get it stuck in my head, but haven't heard it on radio/etc.?
@MissSnarkerson No, it only counts if it passes through your ears. It's not a “Don't think of an elephant” thing, but it's more like “There are elephants wandering around the city, but you must not see any of them”

Wow, only now I notice that there's a MetaFilter post on Whamageddon. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have come up with this idea
Well, I went to the supermarket today and there was a cover of Last Christmas playing in the background, so I'm out for this year
