Pirating is fine imo but if you rip and upload something somewhere, unless you're a hacker team who worked really hard to crack a DRM protection, you don't deserve credit

It's really annoying to like, download an album and the person who ripped it put their name or website or whatever in nearly all the tags

also please if you upload a metal release stick to "metal" in the tags instead of what you think what precise subgenre the band is in because yeah no "extreme power melodic death speed metal" is not a proper tag

I think in general I'm okay with a degrees of subgenres (like black/death/power metal) but like trying to be super specific is counter productive, all bands have their own identity and sound imo

@Siphonay I have to disagree on this; sure "black metal" is a subgenre that may be descriptive enough for some, but clearly Ash Borer and Gorgoroth don't sound the same and Sun Worship is close to Ash Borer while 1349 is close to Gorgoroth, hence new subgenres.

Using only one tag often isn't descriptive enough, that's why I use up to five genre tags per band in my library.

@jkb @Siphonay Yeah. Here’s kinda the file format at fault since they should allow you to use multiple subgenres, and one main genre. Then it’s not really a problem anymore for the user to sort and search for specific things.

@lyze @Siphonay The genre tag is text though, so you can cheat it by having multiple genres separated by semicolons or whatnot (that's what I do) and then rely on text search afterward. I would love music players to properly parse them, though.
