Gillian Flynn used to many colons in Gone Girl, and Graham Greene did the same in The Power and the Glory. Cormac McCarthy didn’t use enough punctuation in The Road.
Why am I never satisfied?
@Idoubtit I'd guess each author had style reasons for what they did so they aren't actual errors, but I still don't like it. I guess if I hope ever to win literary acclaim and awards, I'll have to find my own offensiveness.
@jason - Claude Simon used almost no punctuation in "La Route des Flandres." I became dizzy reading it. Great book though...
@jason And these were books with real editors (presumably). Most other books, they make you do your own proofing.
