@generica I took in 1990 (only lasted 2 years in uni, dropped out 1992). paid the thing off in 2002, ironically whilst working for the UK Environment Ministry (so govt paid back the money anyway). To get security clearance had to account for education since primary school, including dropping out (said it was due to stress/illness which was partly true although I had also been sent out for hacking).

@generica I agree. I was 25 years paying off mine.

@generica I used to recommend sticking with only non-private loans if one has to use them, but with collections on those loans outsourced to predatory private companies your advice makes much more sense now.
