Anyway, I took an hour to stroll in the woods on a warm spring afternoon. octodon.social/media/cvMvOnQQH

And I spotted these little dudes, which a helpful passing teenage photographer informed me are roughskin newts. octodon.social/media/cKOaIuS0T octodon.social/media/6fdHg3bKD

@fobo

super cool! my s.o. just found a (big!) salamander outside the other day

in other herpetology things, we're totally at the season when you can stake out a pond and watch all of the frogs converge on it, which I haven't done for a couple of years; and there's always the chance you'll run across a snake breeding ball

@mrgah Hah, cool! I'm in the city so don't see these things as often. There were probably 20 or 30 newts within my field of view, just lazily swimming in the sun.

@fobo

wow, that's crazy, especially in the city!

@fobo

no, I'm totally in the city atm, too

I just live in the vicarious hope that someone else is living out my childhood dream of being a herpetologist 🐍 🐸
