some people fundamentally misunderstand how the fediverse works. all you can do is filter what comes in.

there is nothing that can be done about somebody who is morally reprehensible downloading, installing and using the software to post their vitriol. but, you can block those users and their instances.

at the end of the day, that's just how the network is architected.

yes, there are some shitty Pleroma instances. I don't particularly like that they exist. but they operate their instances in accordance with the AGPL license.

there are also shitty people who run every other software. the authors of those software also probably do not like that situation, but again, they follow the license.

as access to fediverse node hosting becomes more democratized, marginalized people will have more control over their own space. the entire goal behind Pleroma is to enable this.

but there is no technical solution here, other than filtering what comes in. if you don't like what is coming into your space from outside, you can write a config or click some buttons or whatever, and it's gone.

yes it's shitty that somebody has to do this type of work to keep out bad actors, but it's how the network is architected. it's literally like email.
