I was playing Memories of Mars last night. It’s a survival crafting game with a huge world and servers of up to 64 people. You get to fight and craft and scavenge, you can form alliances, and there’s lots of skill trees. On reflection I think that’s the form that Fallout 76 is going to take. Moderately sized multiplayer servers with lots of places to scavenge and forming raider groups or whatever.
