Re: stinky flowers, the particular stink of this variety is different from the many other stinks that different varieties of hoya produce. They've been described like all sorts of foods (vanilla, chocolate, citrus), and mine is closer to the smell of rotting greenery.

They've got a few names, including wax plant & porcelain flower.

my mom has such a flower, too, and it really stinks. Didn't know it's a hoya. My mom calls it wax flower, and the whole room smells of it.
