@emdeesee I'm not actively tooting from it, but the usual instructions for installing mastodon worked fine for me on debian 9 using a digitalocean $5/month droplet. It's been running for a few days now with no resource consumption problems. I did have to allocate a 2GB swap file though. I just followed the https://github.com/tootsuite/documentation/blob/master/Running-Mastodon/Production-guide.md instructions. It took a little more time than I expected, so set aside an afternoon.

@emdeesee probably not. I don't have a particular community I want to build, and a one-user-instance doesn't get you a useful local or federated timeline...
