Are folks talking about on here yet? I love making / brewing coffee by hand at home. I really enjoy crafting a process to create good cups of coffee consistently. Let me know if you want to talk / geek out about coffee.

@daveskull81 Still got my popcorn air popper kicking around should I be overtaken by the roast muse!

@Owlbert Awesome! I haven't tried roasting my own beans yet. I am thinking that will be a project for this summer. I'm intrigued to try roasting in a WhirleyPop. Roasting seems like a fun challenge.

@daveskull81 It's great! Can't beat a fresh roast for flavor. Sweet Maria's online is a solid place to start.

@Owlbert I bet it must be great flavor-wise. That's about as fresh as it gets to roast it oneself. A friend of mine has recommended Sweet Maria's to me before. Looks like a great place to get going without investing too much. That is the hard part about roasting for me. The cost up front can get rough pretty quickly.

@daveskull81 It can get up there for sure, but you can make a pretty fine cup for less than $40 in upfront costs. It'll be very small batch, but a great start. If you dig the ritual, you can upgrade your roaster for more control and larger batches (~1lb).

@Owlbert That is what I have been hearing from others. From the looks of it I am going to try Sweet Maria's basic starter kit which comes with some beans and a WhirleyPop. It will make for a fun afternoon at least and that will be worth it.
