It's surprising sometimes just how much of my job isn't fixing a problem, but explaining to people why whatever they're complaining about isn't actually a problem. 99% of the time when people have an issue with the output they're seeing, it's because they're doing something wrong, not because there's an actual issue. That's not a metaphor or anything.
@calyanare IOW, your job is to deal with ignorant people who don't realize that they're ignorant?
@starbreaker Yeah, pretty much. I support point-of-sale software (and the proprietary Linux server it runs on). Some people, I'm not sure how they manage to run a business at all.
