I find it rather absurd that some older adults will tell someone who is middle aged that they probably aren't old enough to remember....I was in my 30s and independent during the time she was referring to. Makes me want to say "maybe you are too old to use reasoning skills".
@mslori I once dated a guy who did this all the time. He was three years older than me. You would've thought it was thirty, the way he talked.
