Haha. I love that people are still coming on Mastodon and one of the first things they worry about is being verified. Like seriously, what is the point of verification?
@bradlibum If you're celebrity enough that trolls want your identity to leach off your success, and/or sabotage your career, then verification becomes very important.
I'll bet that if Mastodon continues to gain popularity, we'll see an instance or two that specializes in verifying identities. Probably for a fee. (The people this matters for wouldn't mind paying a fee.)
After that happens we'll all know not to believe in any celebrity not from that instance.
Until then, no point worrying.
