Ugh. I really don't know how to get started with this thing. I feel like no one will follow me if I don't have a lot of toots here first, but I don't have anything to say usually.
@aphandra I also feel like I don't have a lot to say, but I've had good results just from responding to other people's thoughts. Use your profile description to say what you're into. Follow people you like, especially on other instances. Look at the people those users follow themselves to find new people. Boost. Favourite. Engage.
I personally feel I'm cultivating an enjoyable experience on mastodon with this strategy.
@aphandra I haven't had anything to say for a while. Luckily passive engagement on these services is pretty okay, and can mature into more contact as and when the things are there to say.
@aphandra It's not always quantity over quality. I am actually unfollowing some people because they have too much to say :)
