Mastodon is a refreshingly nice place. It feels like the beginning of the Internet, when the norm was that people are nice to one another.
It would be interesting to find out why it is so.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that the reason is simply that the reason is simply that the place is still relatively new so that a social hierarchy between members has not been established yet.
@andrestmaur The difference would surely come when and if it becomes interesting to "Social Media" pros and you get people on here with something to sell, either "product" or themselves.

I still remember the beginning of Usenet, at the beginning everybody was nice because they were testing their grounds, then self-appointed gurus hot their groups of followers and it was over. All without brands and monetizing. The problem is the users themselves, the way human societies form.
