Any of you guys have heard of the WannaCry worm? I've only discovered it a few hours ago but that thing seems to be proliferating fast and affecting any kind of Windows targets (from home computers to hospitals, to other public services).
@_sharpLimefox If you're worried, now might be the time to get noscript for your browser of choice along with adblock and ghostery. Spybot S&D has a decent ip blacklist too and has a reasonable anti-malware engine.
@Nafrondel Got Noscript and RequestPolicy already running, so, I'm somewhat safe already.
@_sharpLimefox Forgot the two important bits x3 It's windows only and it encrypts then deletes your files.
So if you're feeling paranoid, keep a resource monitor open and look out for anything blasting your hard drive. And as always - back up anything irreplaceable.
@Nafrondel That's standard practices I already do, plus, the only windows PC I have was updated this morning, and usually only serves for me to run Debian from an external hard drive

@_sharpLimefox It's a standard piece of ransomeware. Just don't click on suspicious links.
Apparently Kaspersky can catch it but idk if that's true. There've only been 45k infections since Feb, so could be worse.
