Jesus, is there anything more suffocating on social media than complete strangers "liking" and commenting on everything you post as if you're close friends?
@Frankenbeans Sincere question: isn't that part of the expectations of a public federated toot? That has been much of the appeal and fun of mastodon for me, joining wider conversations and making new friends based on common interests. Other than you having a private/ non federated feed, what would be a good indicator for people like me to determine you don't want to be interacted with?
@ZedFable I'm mostly bitching about a Facebore phenomenon. But, you raise an interesting question lots of people have been asking the last few days ... how to make the federated timeline more useful. Some folks are saying that there's too much information in federated for it to be useful. But, yes, connecting to people I'd otherwise never connect with is the fun.
