Ok, octonauts, help me decide which I wear today, based only on the name: Dzing! or Suave Petals?

@SuzanEraslan "suave petals"???
Sure - let's go with that.

@SuzanEraslan I want there to be a whole range of "petals" scents. For every occasion.

Like, do they make an "impolite petals" for when you'd just rather not have to talk to anyone?

@PW Not that is called as such, but I definitely have a fragrance I wear when I specifically want to be left alone. It doesn't smell bad, just not the kind of thing you want to lean into.

@PW Yup-- it's called Eau Absolue by Mono di Orio. It's very bitter and sharp, like biting into pure bergamot. Geranium and cistus labdanum, though flowers, can be very needly and loud and it's full of both. I love it, but it's a defense barrier, not a come hither scent.

@SuzanEraslan

(let ((scents '(:suave-petals :dzing)))
(nth (random (length scents)) scents))
=> :SUAVE-PETALS

The random number generator has spoken.

@emdeesee You know, I assumed everyone would go with the zippy sounding one with the exclamation mark, so I'm surprised everyone (but @CountZero) went with Suave Petals, instead, but I never thought you'd manipulate a random number generator to do it.

@SuzanEraslan @emdeesee
Yeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh.......i might be a know nothing thick skull (and french over that!🤦 ). But, at least, i'm a one of a kind!😝

PS: what did you go for then?

@CountZero @emdeesee I haven't decided, yet. The overwhelming recommendation is Suave Petals, and it is appropriate for the weather, so I might do it today and Dzing! later in the week. (Dzing! won't work tomorrow, because it's supposed to rain all day.)

@SuzanEraslan @CountZero How does one go about learning which scents are appropriate for rainy days? Are rainy day scents less appropriate on dry days?

@SuzanEraslan Isn't that how everybody makes this kind of decision? 🤓

I do this for myself pretty often, or at least when I have a set of alternatives, and I imagine I'm indifferent to the outcome. I often learn I wasn't really indifferent when the random process chooses "incorrectly".

Either way, I'm looking forward to the .
