Welp. Just got suspended from Facebook.
For reporting abuse.
That's right, I reported a profile that was threatening me with physical harm, and Facebook suspended ME.
@Stonekettle You know that saying about not giving credit to Malice when Stupidity is an adequate explanation?
Stupidity doesn't explain this. It has to be an intentional feature of the reporting system. Someone wants it to work this way.
@Stonekettle naturally it's your fault for reporting the account: how dare you deprive Facebook of your interactions! How will the algorithms learn what sorts of things you prefer to be harassed with now?
So glad I deleted my account a long time ago. Thanks for the reminder.
That said I hope they get it resolved soon.
@Stonekettle The knee jerk reaction is to want to harass the nut job or Facebook but I'm thinking that isn't the correct response. If there is something we can do to be more effective than that, can you let us know? I for one realize I think in more tactical terms and miss the strategic advantage.
@mwarden the words "effective" and "facebook" probably don't belong in the same sentence.
I have no idea what, if anything, would get through to them. Probably nothing.

@Stonekettle The guy behind the profile might have felt you threatened him in return, by offering to sicc the police on him, and so counter-reported you. Wuss is the closest translation of what he is, the literal translation would get my mouth washed w soap.
@Stonekettle That seems new. I mean, I know you've gotten suspended for spurious reasons before, but this is beyond spurious. Unfortunately I have no helpful contacts there.
