I just changed my S9's firmware from my service provider's to the "naked" one. Without OEM unlocking. Without voiding warranty. Without even losing ANY data. This is great. I'll get faster OTA updates, and no ugly "Orange F" text permanently taking space up in the notification bar
@Siphonay Ah, did they finally get rid of all the false security stuff?
I really wanted to do that with my old Note 4 when it was still working, but if I had it would have triggered KNOX and voided my warranty.
@MochiWaifu no, it didn't, I just changed official firmwares. It's an easy procedure, Odin is an official Samsung tool and flashing an official firmware doesn't even require unlocking the bootloader. So Knox isn't even reacting to that
@MochiWaifu maybe all of this wasn't available yet at the time?
@Siphonay Odin was at least ;;
*shrug*
Maybe it was a carrier feature, or maybe I was thinking about stock ROMs with root preinstalled... hmm
