The author of this article treats Mastodon like it’s another social startup hellbent on killing Twitter. He doesn’t get it.
I’m not saying Mastodon will survive, but its users will drive it, like Twitter’s early users made it what it is, much to Twitter’s chagrin.
And, really, that’s what made early Twitter so special—its users experimented & had a hand in shaping the platform, from hash tags to apps.

If Mastodon does survive, maybe it will inevitably make some of the same bad choices that twitter did after it's infancy.
