My partner is looking after our kitten today and he won’t come out from under the couch. She has convinced herself that he hates her :(

@NeuroWinter My favorite cat Linus spent his first three weeks under the couch! Then I had to go on a week-long trip, so my generous friend Cheryl sat on the floor near my invisible cat that week When I came home, he was the good buddy that he was for the rest of his life!
I have no idea if he needed time to decide he was in a safe house (he was a SCAREDY CAT), or if he needed the patience of Cheryl to coax him out, or some combination of both. May your kitten be as delightful as Linus was!
@nethope aww Linus sounds like was was similar to Marty! He has come out of his shell a lot in the past few days and is really settling in :)
@NeuroWinter Yay! I hope you enjoy Marty as much as I enjoyed Linus! He was a great kitty, but I had concerns at the start.
