Wrote a piece on #Mastodon. Difficult to predict its future, but I am missing one basic function, which even ADN (App.Net) had: timeline sync.
I am also missing good iOS/Android clients, at least on par with Tweetbot.
Perhaps the huge influx of new users which accelerate things along nicely.
@Webosoof Currently using Amaroq, but it's not super great and has a large impact on battery life. Will need to take a look at some of the Android apps later on... Also, no macOS client. Yet, hopefully.
@Webosoof This is how it works in Tweetbot for Twitter:
Imagine that I start reading my timeline on my iPhone. I have 200 tweets left to read, but I get back home. I pick up my iPad, open Tweetbot on it, and my timeline automatically scrolls to the same point as where I left it on my iPhone. The same thing happens on my Mac in Tweetbot.
App.Net had this feature.
@moridin
I can hardly imagine it on a federated network...
so some dev will have to build it...
@Webosoof Yeah that could prove troublesome, but it could work for the local timelines easily. I think. ☺️
@Webosoof Some 3rd party Twitter clients support Tweet Marker (Tweetbot uses iCloud Sync or Tweet Marker — the user can choose). You can read more about it here: http://tweetmarker.net
@cdevroe Undergoing editing currently + it's in Polish, so I won't even bother posting the link, since few will be able to read it.
Re. Manton – he's currently busy building Micro.blog, but worth a try I guess.
@Moridin I _believe_ Tweet Marker is something that earns some revenue so perhaps he would be willing at some point. Though, I'm sure someone is working on it already.
@cdevroe You're most probably right. 🙂
