Ever read "The design of everyday things" by Don Norman?

Drove this idea home in incredibly detailed and interesting ways.

@RussSharek I haven't, but it looks like a good primer for designers to consider.

I did a lot of sociology and sociolinguistics in school. Everything that is the world around and within us is a matter of choice and design and we always have the power to alter those designs.

Sadly we get entrenched in those ideas and forget. I think it's a side artifact of our being creatures that learn by mimicking and modelling. We get into a pattern, assume it's the one true way and it becomes a rut.

And the book is excellent for designers and thinkers alike. I read it back when I was working as a sculptor and jeweler. As applicable there as it was to advertising, ergonomics, and design in general.
