Most days I find it helpful to add this to my to-do list:

- Don’t get ahead of yourself

@jason Hey, do you write your drafts in single-space or double-space? Do you ever use scrivener?

@Mainebot uh, single? I write in TextEdit on my Mac, so I don’t really deal with that type of formatting.

I’ve played with Scrivener, but I haven’t worked on a project where I needed that much power for organizing stuff.

@jason I've had it installed for years and never used it. I'm trying to get back into fiction proper after finding an outline and the start of a draft I wrote and it occurred to me I don't really know a thing about organizational habits of writers. Apparently past-me wrote single-spaced too.

@Mainebot if I was in your shoes and wanted to pick up where I left off on that draft, I would not use Scrivener. I’d get too distracted fiddling and never get to the writing part!

Tremaine @Mainebot

@jason Oh I wasn't planning on dropping it into scrivener, that would basically kill my momentum at this point. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who used it for real.

@Mainebot I’ve known people who swear by it. They’ve mostly used it for ebooks and (like you’re wondering about) novels. People really seem to like it. I *think* I’d like it, but I’ve never tackled a novel before.
