I just recognized a person as completely the wrong person and stopped them to talk about a thing but they were completely not the person I thought they were,

Two hugely different things.
Everyone makes stupid mistakes, so that's just a thing we all struggle with. Not feeling bad and getting down on yourself is the real challenge, and probably more important.
