No seriously friends

I think I'm gonna buy this thing
and then start figuring out how I can make a 20k USD professional rig happen into my life

Does anyone have any drone experience? A drone of their own? A little community knowledge? Wisdom?

@Mainebot I have a Mavic Pro, but I got it before the Mavic Air was released. The latter has more or less the same specs (a slightly shorter flight time), but is nontrivially cheaper and smaller. I think I'd go for the Mavic Air these days.

@aschmitz

hey I've been thinking on this, and I was wondering what your reasons are? I don't understand why the pro is more expensive if, by many measures, the air is superior. What are your thoughts?

@Mainebot I think it's a bit more stable just by virtue of being bigger. The gimbal may also be better, but I'm not sure. I assume the batteries and motors are also bigger and therefore more expensive. Beyond that I'm not sure, but those would be my guesses having not actually looked into it too much.

@aschmitz

I was thinking something similar. I've heard the gimbal on the pro is faster, fwiw. Considering you have a pro, I'd love to know why you'd want an air. Is it just a cost thing?

@Mainebot Yeah, basically. Also smaller means I could take it more places more easily. (But I like decent cameras and wouldn't go all the way to the Spark.) I don't regret getting the Pro, but I think if I were to get one today it'd be the Air, and maybe an extra battery. (Though I have 3 and have never gone through more than 2 at a time.)
