I'm generally of the opinion that the webapp is pretty good. Have you tried Tusky? It is the least fussy in my experience.

Are you on Android 7.0 by any chance? Most Mastodon apps fail on that version of Android because of a regression with encryption keys from Google. 7.1 fixed it already but on my Samsung I'm also still on 7.0.
TootyFruity works, but my preference goes to #Mastalab which I've also managed to get working 🙂
@RyuKurisu iOS but I found one that works called Tootdon
@Lexialex @RyuKurisu tootdon and amaroq are both pretty reliable & have slightly diff feature sets

@Lexialex on android the website becomes the app, which is handy. Supposedly iOS is getting that feature soon too.
