I have increasingly taken over caring for my parents as they have declined. My mom has Alzheimer's. My dad had a stroke a couple years ago and forgets and gets confused. On my advice, they just moved to assisted living. Assisted it is, 24 hour care it is not.

My dad still had a social life and I am happy he goes out, but if he goes out at night my mom is alone in the apartment with no activities or company. She could easily fall or become terrified.
