@jannamark Interesting, all ours is yellow. I discovered last year that it makes a nice yellow dye. Now I'm curious about the purple.

@KnotKnormal Me, too. I'm wondering whether the purple flowers have a greater concentration of the same coloring agent as the yellow flowers, or a different coloring agent altogether.

What did you dye and how many little flowers did it take?

@jannamark we dyed wool and alpaca yarn, if I remember correctly. It didn't take much, I hadn't realized they could be a dye source until their season was almost over. This year we're catching them as they bloom. I read it's the oxalic acid that's the color. I had some in a jar from my daughter and one fell on the counter after drying. I had splashed it while washing dishes and the color was running out. We don't know if it's fugitive, I haven't had a chance to test it.
