Went to pay the water bill, return one of the 55 gal drums my neighbor brought me compost in and give him some extra strawberry plants I had, and while I was out I found a big log in a ditch that I'll use to raise the level of the hugel bed where I'll be planting squash.

I found enough scrap wire fencing to make hoops over the veg beds I dug over last week. Bird netting now tauter over the hoops -- I hate trapping birds -- and less scrap wire around and I didn't have to buy anything.
@clew Cool! I don't have much trouble with birds but I've been thinking of putting hoops over my beds this fall to cover with sheet plastic as season extenders
@KevinCarson1 Yes, I'm hoping they last well enough that I can just shift different materials onto them.
Which will go much better with standardized beds, which has not previously been my style. Am putting triangles of cover crops and pollinator attractors etc. in the gaps.
