Adding my voice to the call to block social.tchnics.de for tolerating harassment of women (@milan, who doesn''t see what @isaur said as demeaning, is the administrator). I guess it's easy not to "take anything too serious," as he says, if it's not happening to him. But y'all might not to be the next ones whose harassment he doesn't take seriously. octodon.social/media/RdI98bnMi octodon.social/media/MjbFyvUvT octodon.social/media/JKFXvWxgn

@KevinCarson1 @milan fwiw Milan is making an effort to be contrite and to make it right. I think it is too soon to call for this type of action

@jec He retracted his own initial comment, but AFAIK he has not retracted his statement that he does not see isaur's comment as demeaning or that he doesn't "take it too serious." This is not about his personal feelings, but about what he tolerates as official policy as administrator of his instance. Tolerating people like isaur is an example of the kind of culture ppl have left birdsite to escape.

@KevinCarson1 I'm not able to keep up with the entire convo but milan did tell isaur to stop social.tchncs.de/users/milan/u

if isaur persists without further action from milan then I would agree with admin blocking their instance because that is a clear violation of CoC

@KevinCarson1

Yes. That shit is not ok, and there's even more vile shit beneath it.

@KevinCarson1 @milan

I find this a bit over the top. There is no issue with blocking @milan if the person decides to do it.

His arguably strong opinion is not enough to call it harassment. Unlike other profiles asking for purpose of one's stay on the Mastodon network.

And for this to kick a whole useful network out? No.

@saper Tolerating a member calling someone "he he kind of like a whore" is a policy of tolerating harassment. Period.

@KevinCarson1
As @wxl rightfully pointer it out.

But disconnecting a whole instance because of what this guy said there? Let him be blocked instead.

@KevinCarson1 That's what blocking single users is for, not an entire instance.

@KevinCarson1 I agree completely. Anyone has the right to express themselves and talk freely about their life, as it is theirs to talk about. That's not an invitation for other people to be nasty. And "stick and stones" is just an old bullshit from people who hold the sticks and stones in their hands.
