As someone who owns some old Dennis Wheatley "crime dossiers", Unbound's rerelease of Torquemada's puzzle novel Cain's Jawbone looks fascinating.

@tomabba Tom, I've never even SEEN any of the original published editions of the Wheatley/Links books, let alone own one sadly. I wonder how many survived intact.
The other direction here is BS Johnson's wonderful The Unfortunates, his 60s "book in a box".
