I'm seeing no movement on Mastodon. Is it me?

@GottaLaff Could be timezones. And all the minions might not have made it across yet

@divineeris Bizarre. Yesterday at this time, it was moving along fast.

@GottaLaff It could be timezones, or weekend afk's, or that afternoon slump, or any number of things. Welcome to the instance, all the same :)

@Mainebot Thanks! : ) Still weird, because yesterday at this time, it was buzzing. I guess I'm used to my Twitter feed, which is non stop.

@GottaLaff You can always pop into the federated timeline. Endless traffic there!

@Mainebot I noticed! Nah, I'm not looking for more traffic. I've got my hands full. It was just something I noticed, nothing more.

@GottaLaff Not sure there is critical mass here yet. Time will tell.

@Centaur Yeah, probably. I wasn't complaining. I thought maybe I had a glitch.

@GottaLaff Interesting platform. Still learning the layouts. Its like a cross between Twitter (centralized) and IRC (distributed). Just got to look around the various instances and find whats active I guess.

@Centaur I wasn't looking for activity, just thought maybe something went wrong. I'm too used to Twitter, where I have about 52,000 followers and it's non stop.

@GottaLaff nicolesandler.com/media-bias-s -Now, what I wonder is, why is this true? MSM so "controlled" now its biased towards R, or R simply makes better ratings? Either way Murrow and Cronkite (et al.) are spinning in their graves.

@Centaur All I know is that I've been tracking this for years, and at least 80% (probably more) of the time, GOP guests monopolize Sunday talk shows.

@GottaLaff -insert obligatory Sunday joke here-
Well keeps them from having to show up at church, where they may be smote by lightning.... ;)

@GottaLaff Mastodon reminds me of the good old days back in the 1980's on the first nationwide chat systems. (pre-internet even) The suits said it would never take off, no one wanted to type at each other. This started really slow.... but boy oh boy. My My, we proved the suits wrong, and no one envisioned twitter or Facebook back then.

@Centaur Reminds me of early Twitter, too, a friendlier, more community feel.

@GottaLaff Yes indeed. Back then no one had yet learned how to be a troll, or even anything other than themselves. I was on the old Compuserve CB simulator, the first popular national chat system. Back when you maybe had 5 to 50 different people on a night. LOL Met my wife that way. Back when one could actually keep up with the message rates.

@Centaur Wow! Well, in chat rooms, there were trolls. I knew one personally. One of my first Twitter trolls was...wait for it... Andrew Breitbart.

@GottaLaff Ug. Hard enough in some ways dealing with regular lamers. But Breitbart? I would not wish that on anyone. Back in the day before a lot of politics hit the net, I can point to the first big "scandal" when someone purported to be female, and started a relationship with a guy on line. And when it got serious and he flew out to meet her, she was in truth a guy. Made quite the ripple in the close knit online community of a few thousand regulars. Today, politics online way too crazy. :)

@GottaLaff i've had times when my home timeline wouldn't update (but federated ones, etc, would). but a page refresh fixed it

@bunnyhero I've refreshed twice. I'm thinking it's just slow today.

@GottaLaff I think it could be a weekend slowdown, combined with people learning a new platform. I was running errands all day with the twerp, 'cause that's my only free time.

@KnotKnormal Probably. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't broken.

@GottaLaff I took a break to do real life stuff. Enjoying the weekend. 👋

@RattusInsanus So did I. I was just concerned because I'm not used to a frozen timeline. But I see now it's just the way it is here occasionally.
