How do you tell if someone's a "real" ?

Ask if their fever dreams are about ISBN allocation. If they can tell a harrowing tale of Kafkaesque unique ID per copy proportions, then they are a real author.

This test is unashamedly designed to privilege people who are me. Because I deserve some positive worth after getting hammered down for days by the aforementioned fever.

@starbreaker Less worse.

I have enough energy to think that I have energy and sometimes be right.

Mostly the last two days have been islands of small things amid the sea of mucus and flumpage though.

@starbreaker It's not fun.

If I hadn't confirmed my latest release date as this week the day before it hit - so was kind of stuck with certain tasks - I'd have potentially withdrawn to a blanket fort until next month.

@DaveHiggins I guess I'm not a real author, because that all sailed right over my head.

@BobTarte Probably for the best. The international ISBN situation is almost the opposite of a simple solution to book IDs. So, like some strange Lovecraftian protagonist, I would not wish understanding upon anyone.

@DaveHiggins I'm glad I never have to think about that stuff.

@BobTarte There are days when the ease of not being a publisher tempts me too.
